Enroute to Churchill Manitoba, a lady asked if she could sit beside me on the airplane. I readily agreed as having some company and conversation on the trip was appealing! She shared that her name was Rhoda. Rhoda and I chatted about our lives, children, grandchildren.. I was fascinated to learn that as she ventured up north in search of employment in her teens. She ended staying, marrying, having her children in this small northern community that also boasts of polar bears, beluga whales, artic foxes and caribou.
More over, she owns the Home Hardware Store in Churchill. Besides that in itself as a unique accomplishment, I found her very passionate about her two goats, pot bellied pig and Icelandic Horse. All who get along with each other famously, and thanks to Rhoda, has their food shipped by train to this northern remote location. Only by train or airplane can one experience Churchill for all it has to offer.
