Description
Luckily, a zoom lens provides the ability to capture a close up image that, a scaredy cat such as I, would never get.
On Wikipedia, this beautiful beast, a boar (adult male) weighs around 350-700 ks (772 - 1,543 lb), while a sow (adult female) is about half that size. The polar bear's body characteristics are adapted for cold temperatures, for moving across snow, ice and open water for hunting seals, which makes up most of their diet. Polar bears hunt their preferred food of seals, from the edge of sea ice, often living off fat reserves when no sea ice is present.
This is the white bear. A species that are classified as a vulnerable species. This bear has been a key figure in the material, spiritual, and cultural life of circumpolar peoples, and polar bears remain important in their cultures. An animal that should be protected and respected.
