Description
These two wild horses are from the Onaqui herd located in the Onaqui Mountains in Utah. There's around 450 horses that are easily accessible for viewing opportunities. A large band can almost always be spotted along the historic Pony Express Road between Simpson Springs and the Old River channel.
As the two stallions confront each other, I was in awe of the power, energy and movement this image created. It's assumed they are challenging each other to show who's stronger and perhaps leadership of the herd.
These horses were exhibited at the Gwen Fox Art Gallery in Selkirk, Manitoba where a group of writers practiced writing poems about the artwork. Here’s what came for this painting:
