Description
I was excited to do this painting because it exhibits the massiveness of the mighty Polar Bear. With his one paw beckoning you to come closer it's an alluring pose. One could be enticed to go and pet this beautiful creature. This hopefully is where logic overrides desire.
The particular young and undernourished polar bears will hunt people for food. Although man-eating bear attacks are uncommon, it can occur when the animals are diseased or natural prey is scarce often leading them to attack and eat anything they are able to kill.
The inuit people call this bear, "nanook", based on the term nauq meaning white bear.
This Polar Bear could also be simply enticing you to come and explore Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. A place that boast polar bears and beluga whales.
Many thanks to Paul Leh, a wildlife photographer who ventured to Sear River Heritage Lodge near Churchill and captured this amazing photo that I was then able to use as a reference.
Thanks as well to the following groups for featuring this painting, "Come.": WFS Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery Group, Just Perfect, Painters and Traditional Art, Old Masters - Wildlife, Painting the Old Way, Created by My Hands
