Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
The Barkhouse boat shed is located on the shores of Mahone Bay, Chester, Nova Scotia and was used as a boat building place in the 1940's. It was for small class size sail boats and it was a thriving business in the 40's.
After its closure for boat building, the building has been owned by private
owners (changed hands a few times) and all have used it for boat repairs
or storing of boats.
When I was fortunate to visit and view this historical boat shed, it spoke to me of days gone by, and of a huge importance it once had. I, as many other artist who have been taken with it's architecture and scenic surroundings, pay tribute (by painting Barkerhouse Boatshed on canvas) to the past and a once thriving trade.
